Injured teen taken to summit of Mt. Washington
MOUNT WASHINGTON — A Massachusetts teen who injured his leg on the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail on Monday was carried to an ambulance by volunteers from the Mount Washington State Park, the Lake of the Clouds Hut and the Appalachian Mountain Club, according to a release from the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.
Michael Hery, 15, of Peabody, Mass., was on the Ammonoosuc trail with his father, Peter, and a friend after spending the night at the Lake of the Clouds Hut. He fell, injuring his leg, the release said.
Peter Hery ran back to the hut, and staff from the hut helped Michael Hery “hobble” back to the hut, the release said, where 16 members of the Appalachian Mountain Club and two members of the Mount Washington Park staff helped carry him 1.5 miles to the summit of Mount Washington.
An ambulance took Michael Hery to Memorial Hospital in North Conway for treatment.
