ROCHESTER — Police are investigating who was driving a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run accident along Academy Street Wednesday afternoon.
Police, firefighters and emergency personnel responded at 12:27 p.m. after a 2004 Ford Thunderbird struck the rear of a 1999 Dodge Durango, which was parked along the road, before driving off, according to Sgt. Pat Emerson.
He said the Durango sustained a “pretty serious dent” in the rear of the vehicle.
Even though the Durango was parked at the time of the accident, Emerson said Scott Leeman, 39, and his 7-year-old daughter were sitting inside the vehicle. He added both appeared to escape injury and refused transport to the hospital.
“We ended up finding the other car,” Emerson said, adding the Thunderbird was later spotted and stopped by officers along Milton Road — Route 125 — around 3:15 p.m.
Emerson said the accident remains under investigation as police are still trying to determine who was driving the vehicle at the time of the incident.
Anyone with information about the matter is encouraged to contact officers at 330-7128 or leave an anonymous tip on the Rochester Police Crimeline at 330-6500.
