MANCHESTER — Public Service of New Hampshire will send 13 staff members to Maryland today, to assist in efforts to restore power to hundreds of thousands of customers left without power after severe storms moved through the Mid-Atlantic on Friday.

Ten PSNH lineworkers, a supervisor and two mechanics were expected to join Northeast Utilities crews from Boston, western Massachusetts and Connecticut headed for the Mid-Atlantic, where more than 3 million customers were affected by the storm. The PSNH workers are expected to arrive at First Energy's offices in Williamsport, Md., late Monday, where they will receive their assignments. No timetable has been established for their return to New Hampshire.

In a release, PSNH stated that enough personnel would remain in New Hampshire to respond to any local damage or outages caused by summer heat or potential thunderstorms.
