U.S. unemployment static at 8.2 percent
The U.S. economy added 80,000 jobs in June, leaving the nation's unemployment rate unchanged at 8.2 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics said Friday.
Professional and business services added jobs, but employment in other major industries changed little over the month, the Labor Department said.
New claims for jobless benefits fell to the lowst level in six weeks, the government reported Thursday.
New Hampshire will report its seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for the month of June on July 17.
Nationally, the Labor Department said 12.7 million remained unemployed in June. Among them were 5.4 million long-term unemployed, who have been out of work for 27 weeks or more. Both groups were essentially unchanged in June.
