Threat allegations forbid man from contacting woman
A probable cause hearing was set for July 18 in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division for a city man charged with felony criminal threatening.
Justin Bachert, 22, of 651 Harvard St., could enter no plea Friday to a felony charge of criminal threatening that accuses him of swinging a knife while confronting the mother of his 2-year-old son and her male friend and threatening to throw her down the stairs.
Bachert pleaded innocent to misdemeanor charges of criminal threatening and endangering the welfare of a child that allege he said: “I'll shoot you in the head, I don't care,” after being told the alleged victims had called police, and of endangering his child by swinging the knife while the child was near him.
Trial on the misdemeanors was set for Oct. 9 and bail is $11,000 cash/surety, with conditions that forbid contact with the alleged victims and bar him from their residences.
Reckless conduct charged
A teen accused of driving on Canal Street June 13 at speeds in excess of 80 mph, weaving to avoid manhole covers, and then failing to appear in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division for arraignment June 21, appeared in court Friday after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Nathan Soucy, 19, of 276 Cartier St., pleaded innocent to reckless conduct and trial was set for Oct. 15. Soucy had originally been released on $1,000 personal recognizance bail, but bail was set at $500 cash/surety on the arrest warrant. Soucy also owed a $50 fee for his failure to appear in court June 21.
Denies loitering
George Johnson, 19, of 175 Conant St., on Friday objected to a police prosecutor's request for $5,000 cash/surety bail on charges of loitering and resisting arrest.
Johnson pleaded innocent in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division to the charges that allege he was one of two “suspicious” individuals spotted on Second Street earlier in the morning who fled when an officer sought to detain them.
Johnson insisted he wasn't loitering and said: “I don't see why I can't have pr (personal recognizance) bail.”
Police prosecutor Steven Mangone said he requested the high bail because Johnson has a history of theft and burglary convictions and a felony theft by unauthorized taking charge earlier this year was bound over to the Hillsborough County Superior Court Grand Jury.
Judge William Lyons set bail at $3,000 cash/surety, with conditions that include a 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew. Trial was set for Oct. 11.
Accused of selling crack
A man accused of selling of crack cocaine to an undercover officer pleaded for a break on bail Friday, telling Circuit Court-Manchester District Division Judge William Lyons: “I'm a single dad. I take care of my two (teenage) boys.”
Aaron Snyder, 38, of 753 Summer St., could enter no plea to two felony charges of sale of a controlled drug on Oct. 28 and Nov. 3, 2011.
Police prosecutor Steven Mangone requested bail of $35,000 cash/surety, saying Snyder has a previous drug conviction as well as convictions for assault, receiving stolen property, stalking and theft of services and a bail revocation conviction. His most recent conviction was for assault in 2011, said Mangone.
Lyons set bail at $25,000 cash/surety, with conditions that include signing a waiver of extradition. Because of the nature of the charges, a hearing will be set on the source of any funds offered for bail.
A probable cause hearing was set for July 18.
Strangulation try alleged
Luis Figueroa, 21, of 143 Myrtle St., could enter no plea Friday in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division to a felony charge of second-degree assault that accuses him of squeezing his girlfriend's throat until she had difficulty breathing.
Because no plea can be entered to a felony in Circuit Court, a probable cause hearing was set for July 18. Trial was set Oct. 15 on a simple assault charge that alleges he grabbed his girlfriend while she was in the shower.
Bail is a total of $6,000 cash/surety, with conditions forbiding contact with the woman and barring him from going to the Myrtle Street address.
