Duo charged in Nashua restaurant robberies
NASHUA — Two men are under arrest, accused of trying to rob a pair of East Hollis Street fast-food restaurants Friday afternoon.
Police said Louis Spaulding, 40, of 62 Cox St., and Raymond Ward, 34, no fixed address, first tried to rob Wendy's just before 6:30 p.m. The pair entered the restaurant and, with their hands in their pockets suggesting they were armed, according to police, demanded money from the clerk at the register.
Unable to obtain any cash, they left and crossed the street to McDonald's where Spaulding allegedly demanded money from the clerk at the register, police said.
Police then say the pair left after Spaulding obtained an undisclosed amount of cash but were quickly arrested by patrol officers who, responding to the Wendy's robbery, spotted Spaulding leaving McDonald's.
Ward was quickly located and arrested as well. Neither man was armed with a weapon, police said.
Spaulding is charged with two counts of robbery, both class B felonies, while Ward is charged with robbery for acting in concert with Spaulding.
What's next: Spaulding is being detained on $50,000 cash/surety bail, while Ward's bail is $25,000 cash/surety, pending arraignment in 9th Circuit Court, Nashua District.
