Rochester crash injures Somersworth man; Barrington driver charged with DWI
ROCHESTER — A crash late Sunday night on Blackwater Road left a Somersworth man seriously injured and a Barrington man under arrest on a charge of aggravated driving while intoxicated.
Police said Joseph Liska, 48, was driving a GMC Sierra north on Blackwater Road when he crossed the center line and struck a blue Dodge Durango driven by Harold Arno, 26, of Rochester.
Both vehicles were heavily damaged, but police said Liska still drove off in his truck. A resident noticed the truck, its front end heavily damaged, about a quarter mile from the crash site and called police. Both Dover and Rochester officers arrived and Liska was arrested.
Arno’s passenger, Bruce Ruth, 47, of Somersworth, was taken by ambulance to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital for treatment of injuries police described as serious but not life-threatening.
Liska and Arno also were treated for minor injuries.
Liska also is facing a second felony charge of conduct after an accident.
What’s next: Liska is free on $5,000 personal recognizance bail with arraignment set for Aug. 23 in 7th Circuit Court, Rochester District.
