BOSTON -- Kevin Youkilis continued to torment his former team with a three-run homer and right-hander Philip Humber made a strong return from the disabled list as visiting Chicago evened the four-game set at a game apiece with a 7-5 win on Tuesday.

Alejandro De Aza added two hits and two RBIs and Paul Konerko doubled in a run for the White Sox, who eclipsed their run total from the previous three games.

Youkilis went 3-for-4 in a losing effort on Monday but made sure his lone hit counted Tuesday. The former All-Star came up with two on in the fourth and walloped a 3-2 cutter into the front row of the Green Monster seats in left field to give Chicago a 6-2 cushion.

That was enough for Humber (4-4), who made his first start since June 16 and went six innings, surrendering two runs and six hits while striking out three. Humber had posted a 7.47 ERA in 10 starts prior to going on the DL.

Carl Crawford and Jacoby Ellsbury showed the Red Sox what they had been missing with a speed display in the opening frame. Ellsbury led off with a single, stole second and scored on Crawford's single. Crawford then stole second, moved up on a groundout and made it 2-2 when he scampered home on Adrian Gonzalez's line drive single to center.

But Jon Lester (5-7), who allowed a pair of runs in the first inning, could not keep the game close. The left-hander struggled through four innings, allowing six runs and seven hits while striking out four and walking three.

De Aza doubled in the go-ahead run in the second and added an RBI single in the sixth to make it 7-2.

Will Middlebrooks drove in a run and Kelly Shoppach delivered a pinch-hit two-run homer in eighth to cut the deficit to 7-5. But Addison Reed came on for the ninth and secured the victory for Chicago with his 15th save.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Red Sox DH David Ortiz (right Achilles) sat out the game. An MRI on Tuesday reveal no rupture or tear but he was in a boot in the dugout and will seek a second opinion. He will be out at least a week. ... Crawford finished with three hits and has four in his first two games. It took him seven games to reach four hits in 2011. Crawford ended up stealing three bases, driving in a run and scoring twice Tuesday. ... Chicago slugger Adam Dunn caught the Red Sox napping in the third inning and stole second base. It was his first theft since 2008. ... Left-hander Pedro Hernandez will make his major-league debut for the White Sox on Wednesday in place of Gavin Floyd (elbow), who was placed on the DL for the first time in his career.
