Women's committee for Hassan unveiled
CONCORD – Democratic gubernatorial candidate Maggie Hassan unveiled her 125-member Women of Maggie steering committee Wednesday at a press conference.
“The stakes are incredibly high for women in the state of New Hampshire in this election,” said committee co-chair, National Democratic Committeewoman Kathy Sullivan.
Standing with a group of about 20 supporters, Hassan said she is proud to have the support of women from around the state and from Republicans and independents.
“I am running for governor to make sure all our children and families have the opportunity to succeed,” she said. “As governor, my first priority is to make sure New Hampshire has the best-trained workforce in the nation so we can attract the innovative companies creating the good-paying jobs of the future.”
She and other speakers such as Senate Minority Leader and former Senate President Sylvia Larsen, D-Concord, lamented what they called the unrelenting attacks on women and women’s health care during the past two legislative sessions.
The steering committee includes current and former state senators and representatives, city and town elected officials, party officials and others.
