Police probe why bike was weaving
JACKSON — Authorities continue to investigate why Kenneth Vashaw, 54, of Berlin, was weaving back and forth before his motorcycle hit a guardrail Monday as he drove north to Pinkham Notch, killing him.
The fatal accident occurred just north of the Dana Place Inn on Route 16 around 3 p.m. and was witnessed by a driver in a vehicle heading south.
Jackson police Officer Doug Jetter who was on the scene, said there were no indications Vashaw had been drinking.
An autopsy has been requested.
Jetter said Vashaw might have had a pre-existing medical condition or the accident could have been caused by driver error.
Officials plan to do a toxicology test.
Jetter said Vashaw was going about 55 mph before he hit the guardrail and was thrown from the motorcycle.
He was not wearing a helmet.
