MANCHESTER - A nine-unit apartment building, which burned in a fire in February 2011, caught fire again Wednesday morning, causing about $50,000 to $75,000 in damage to the three-story building, according to the fire chief.

The fire at 84 Ash St. was reported about 6:45 a.m. and quickly went to two alarms. The building is vacant but being renovated by its new owner, Bob Jodoin of Hooksett, who bought it in May, according to Fire Chief James Burkush.

Three of the nine units were ready to be rented, he said. Jodoin, he said, has no insurance on the building.

Firefighters knocked down the fire quickly and had the blaze under control in about 45 minutes. No one was injured.

Burkush said the cause of the fire remains under investigation. He said when firefighters arrived, fire was showing from the attic, which was heavily damaged.

The February blaze, which investigators believed was caused by a portable electric heater, caused about $200,000 in damage and displaced 19 people. Burkush recalled battling another fire in the same building 35 years ago.
