SALEM — A rededication ceremony was held at the Field of Dreams on Thursday to commemorate the park’s 20th anniversary.

The park opened July 19, 1992. It was the culmination of over four years of work by volunteers using donated money, labor and materials. The final product is a community meeting place including a stage, exercise equipment, picnic area and a trail.

Members of the Recreation Department and the Greater Salem Chamber of Commerce attended a 1 p.m. ribbon cutting at the Field of Dreams. The celebration continued later that evening with a concert by George & Co. as part of the regular Thursday night concert series and an anniversary sheet cake.

On Saturday, July 21, the fun is set to continue at the 20th anniversary celebration from noon to 6 p.m. Three different bands from the summer concert series will provide the music. The Greater Salem Chamber of Commerce will host children’s games from 1 to 3 p.m. Children are also invited to buy a key for the Treasure Chest of Prizes. The Senior Center and Council on Aging is sponsoring a scavenger hunt from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Raffles will be held and a volleyball tournament is planned.

T-Bones of Salem and Tuscan Kitchen are providing food.
