CONCORD — Jim Bassett, 55, of Canterbury was sworn in Thursday as the 107th member of the N.H. Supreme Court.

The long-time Concord attorney pledged to live up to the confidence others have shown in him and told the 150 or so family, friends, associates, members of the judiciary and other state officials, “I have no personal agenda, political or otherwise,” but to be an impartial justice.

Bassett was nominated by Gov. John Lynch, who administered the oath of office Thursday. His nomination was approved by the Executive Council last month.

Bassett was a senior litigator and shareholder of the Concord law firm of Orr & Reno, where he practiced for 27 years before accepting the Supreme Court appointment.

He replaces Associate Justice James Duggan, who retired earlier this year.
