Derry woman sentenced for robbery
BRENTWOOD — A Derry woman will spend at least a year in jail after admitting to assaulting a loss prevention worker at Home Depot in Salem while attempting to shoplift.
Pamela Wilton, 46, pleaded guilty to robbery and theft charges in Rockingham County Superior Court for kicking and punching the store worker on Nov. 17. Wilton was armed with a pair of scissors during the assault.
Wilton is already serving a longer term in prison because of a past conviction stemming from when she worked as a nursing assistant in Manchester, according to prosecutors.
In her latest case, Wilton received a 1½- to 3-year prison term for pleading guilty to the robbery charge, and a year-long jail term for attempted theft by unauthorized taking.
She has already served 126 days in jail, but her punishment in Rockingham County is part of a longer prison term.
Wilton recently began serving a 2- to 5-year prison sentence for violating her probation with her latest arrest.
Two years ago, Wilton, then a nursing assistant in Manchester, was convicted of stealing a credit card from an 83-year-old woman and making several purchases in Derry and Londonderry.
She pleaded guilty to fraudulent use of a credit card in that case.
Wilton received a suspended 12-month jail sentence and a suspended 2- to 6-year prison term after pleading guilty to two felonies.
The woman, who was being cared for by Wilton, complained to police about purchases she never made appearing on her credit card statement. Police found video surveillance footage at one of the stores where Wilton was recorded using the card, prosecutors said.
Wilton bought roughly $300 worth of gift cards, cash and other goods at a Shaw's supermarket, according to prosecutors.
