One person injured in crash at New England Dragway Friday night
EPPING —— One person suffered what officials termed a serious injury after a car caught fire on the track at the New England Dragway Friday night.
The Rockingham County Sheriff's Department said the car burst into flames on the track and that one person suffered a head injury. A racetrack ambulance took the injured person to Exeter Hospital.
According to the track's published schedule, Friday night's racing events included trials for weekend racing. Racing continued after the incident.
The track opened on the Epping-Brentwood town line in 1966. Its most serious incident occurred three years ago when a 47-year-old Bristol, R.I. racer collapsed and died shortly after losing a race.
