Garbage starts Littleton basement fire, two firefighters get treatment

LITTLETON — Basement garbage ignited Sunday afternoon, starting a slow-working fire at a Brickyard Road home.

Firefighters were called to the single-family home around 2:40 p.m. Sunday for the structure fire.

Littleton Fire reported the blaze was contained and put out within half an hour. It is not know what started the garbage to ignite.

No serious injuries were reported, though a couple of firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion.

A second alarm was called out for the fire due to the high heat and humidity.
