Blaze damages Weare Center Store

WEARE - An overnight two-alarm blaze heavily damaged the Weare Center Store on South Stark Highway.

Heavy flames collapsed the roof on the single-story addition to the store located at 1437 S. Stark Highway, according to Fire Chief Robert Vezina.

The fire was reported just before midnight, and it took fire crews about an hour to knock it down. The blaze was under control at 1:19 a.m.

Vezina said investigators do not know what caused the fire yet, but they will be back at the fire scene Tuesday about 9 a.m. to try and determine it.

Investigators think it started in the addition, which was heavily damaged by flames.

Vezina expects the store, which is owned by Mohammad Nawaz, will remain closed for about a month because of the damage and because the inventory was destroyed by heavy smoke and water.
