Shaheen pitches energy bill during green energy solutions company visit in Hudson
HUDSON — Sen. Jeanne Shaheen. D-N.H., touted her energy bill Friday while touring a company known for green energy solutions.
“There is a broad coalition of support for energy efficiency and its ability to strengthen our economy and address our nation's energy needs,” Shaheen said. “Companies like EnerTrac are a terrific example of why. They are creating jobs here in the Granite State by making innovative products that will save consumers and businesses money.”
EnerTrac offers a line of fuel tank meters and sensors that can electronically monitor the amount of fuel in a tank and integrate that data directly into the dealer's delivery scheduling system. The technology can also alert clients to a change that requires action. The products cost about $30 with a monthly monitoring fee per tank of about $2.45 to $2.95 per month, according to CEO Steve Owens.

“The cheapest, fastest way to deal with our energy needs is energy efficiency,” Shaheen said.
Fuel dealers using EnerTrac's technology can make their delivery and service more efficient while reducing CO2 emissions by 30 percent or more, according to Patrick Mansfield, executive vice president of EnerTrac.
The company was incorporated in 2006. After years of research and development it received funding to launch green monitoring in 2011. More than 24,000 meters were installed that year, and more than 100,000 will be installed by the end of this year, Mansfield said.
The company has also grown from nine to 30 employees in the last 24 months, Mansfield said.
Shaheen said the company's success proves that it's possible to go green and still save money.
“It's very exciting to see what you're doing,” Shaheen said.
Shaheen asked for support for the Energy Savings and Industrial Competitiveness Act that she introduced with Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio.
