MANCHESTER — A 19-year-old from Bedford was killed and his friend injured when their car crashed on Interstate 293 northbound Saturday morning.

State police said Andrew Roy, a passenger in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which happened shortly before 7 a.m. at the Exit 2 off-ramp.

The driver, Ian Bolser, 19, also of Bedford, was taken to Elliot Hospital with what state police said were non-life-threatening injuries.

When police responded to a report of a crash, they found a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer on its side, according to a news release. A state trooper at the scene said the car smashed into the sound barrier; there were no skid marks visible at the scene.

Bolser's aunt, Kathy Deschuiteer of Manchester, said the two teens, who became friends at Bedford High School, were coming home from the beach and “both fell asleep.” She said her nephew is expected to recover.

Deschuiteer said she didn't think Bolser had learned of his friend's death as of Saturday afternoon.

Melissa Houde, identified as Andrew Roy's sister on his Facebook page, posted this message Saturday seven hours after the fatal crash: “absolutely devastated, things will never be the same.”

And a friend posted: “I love you Andrew. Rest easy my boy.”

On his Facebook page, Roy described himself as a carpenter and said he attended Bedford High School and graduated from Manchester School of Technology in 2011. He posted photos of himself riding his motocross bike and of a happy family Christmas.

And last August, Roy posted a photo depicting a large new tattoo he said he had just gotten on his torso: “Patience/Progression/Perfection/Everybody dies/Not everyone lives.”

“I just thought 3 p words that would have to do with success in life. and I cam up with that....” he posted.

And “about” himself, Roy posted: “living life the fullest. live it day by day, hour by hour minute by minute, breath by breath....”

He also posted a link to a memorial page for Tyler Walsh, a Bedford High classmate who died in March in a construction accident.

On Bolser's Facebook page, he mentions being involved in another car crash in June: “slid out coming on the highway... hit the dirt slid into a jeep then went face first into the guardrail.” He said he suffered a concussion and an arm injury.
