Prostitution ring allegedly worked out of Portsmouth apartment complex
PORTSMOUTH - One woman was arrested and two men are wanted by police for their roles in an alleged prostitution ring at the Sagamore Avenue apartments complex.
Police said they began investigating the apartments after receiving complaints from the community that women brought men to apartment 4 in building 565 for short periods of time.
On Thursday night, police said, they saw a man, Jim Parra, 22, of Kittery, Maine, exit a window of the apartment carrying an open condom. He was detained and released, but after an investigation is now wanted on one count of prostitution, a police sergeant said Saturday.
Police have arrested Brooke Parent, 21, of Manchester, on one count of prostitution.
Police said they also are looking for the apartment's occupant, Alexander Marino, 38, whom police say allowed his apartment to be used for prostitution "in return for consideration" and one count of drug possession.
"It is believed that this prostitution ring may extend into the Manchester and Portland, Maine area and involve use of www.backpage.com for advertising of services," police said in a release. Backpage.com is owned by Village Voice Media.
