NEA endorses Democrat Hassan for NH governor
CONCORD —The state’s largest union on Wednesday announced its endorsement of Democratic gubernatorial candidate Maggie Hassan, according to a release.
“Maggie shares our belief that good public schools are the foundation for strong communities and a vibrant economy and that for our students and schools to thrive, we all need to be held accountable — teachers, parents, students and elected officials. She knows that continuing to slash school funding risks losing an entire generation of students who won’t get a second chance,” said Scott McGilvray, president of National Education Association New Hampshire, which represents more than 17,000 teachers statewide.
“I am thrilled to have earned the support of more than 17,000 of New Hampshire’s teachers and their families. As a leader in the state Senate, I fought to make sure all of our children have the chance to go to great schools that prepare them to succeed. As Governor, I will continue to put education first and stand up to anyone who wants to cut education,” said Hassan, a former state senator from Exeter.
