Southpaw Ramon Garcia held the New Hampshire Fisher Cats to just four hits in a complete game effort and the Erie SeaWolves blanked the Granite Staters, 6-0, in the rubber match of an Eastern League three-game series in Pennsylvania Thursday night.

Garcia, who did not walk a batter, fanned six and evened his season mark on the hill at 8-8. He dropped his ERA to 4.02.

New Hampshire starting pitcher Deck McGuire continued to struggle as he surrendered 12 hits in five innings of work. He gave up all six runs, which were earned, and ballooned his era to 6.17. He struck out four and walked one as his record fell to 5-13. He also hit a batter.

McGuire’s woes began with the first batter he faced.

Daniel Fields cracked a single and promptly stole second and third bases. Nick Castellanos and Jordan Lennerton followed with back-to-back doubles and Erie led 2-0 after one inning.

The Seawolves picked up right where they left off in the second. Brandon Douglas singled and stole second. Cory Jones singled, but was picked off first base by McGuire. Fields recorded his second hit of the game and quickly stole his third base of the game. Niuman Romero added a base hit and after two innings, Erie was on top, 4-0.

The SeaWolves sent McGuire to the showers after scoring two more runs on a Avisail Garcia home run in the fifth.

Chorye Spoone and Michael Dube also saw time on the Fisher Cats mound. Spoone blanked the Seawolves in the sixth and seventh innings while Dube retired the three batters he faced in the eighth.

Neither Fisher Cats reliever allowed a hit.

New Hampshire finished with four base knocks in the game, all coming from the top of the batting order. Ryan Goins, Jake Marisnick, Kevin Howard and Brad Glenn collected the hits.

Marisnick was the only Fisher Cat to reach second base with his ninth inning double.

Garcia retired New Hampshire in order in the first, third, fifth, seventh and eighth innings.

The loss left the Fisher Cats with a league-worst 46-71 record. New Hampshire takes on Akron in a doubleheader Friday night.
