Warning issued over possible salesman scam in NH

CONCORD — The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office on Wednesday warned against a possible scam involving door-to-door magazine subscription sales.

The Attorney General’s Office said in a statement that the sales representatives misrepresent themselves as neighbors or individuals working to earn money to go to college, but are employed by a company called United Circulation who “have come from out of state and may not be college students.”

The statement said United Circulation charges subscription fees “far in excess of the actual cost of the subscription.”

Anyone who believes they are the victim of an unfair or deceptive act in connection with door-to-door magazine sales can call their local police department or call the Consumer Protection Bureau at 271-3641 or (888) 468-4454. More information on consumer fraud is available at doj.nh.gov/consumer.
