MANCHESTER — A local woman arrested Aug. 2 in Portsmouth in connection with a psychologist's arrest on prostitution and drug charges was arrested twice Wednesday evening on prostitution charges, this time in Manchester.
Brooke Parent, 21, who lists her address as 92 Walnut St., Manchester, is accused of agreeing to perform a sex act for money on an undercover officer Wednesday about 7:45 p.m. near Union and Merrimack streets in Manchester. She was arrested and released on bail.
About 10 minutes after her release, another undercover officer saw Parent “acting suspiciously” near Union and Manchester streets. He approached her as she was near Union and Lowell streets, engaged her in a conversation during which police said she agreed to perform a sex act in exchange for money.
She was arrested again, charged with a second count of prostitution and held for violating bail conditions set on her first arrest.
Parent was charged in the Portsmouth case earlier this month after police were alerted that a local psychologist's apartment might be serving as location for prostitution activities.
That psychologist, Alexander Marino, Ph.D., 38, of 565 Sagamore Ave., Apt. 4, Portsmouth, was arrested Aug. 7 on charges of prostitution and possession of controlled drugs. On Aug. 10, his psychology license was suspended by emergency order of the N.H. Board of Mental Health Practice.
Marino, who practiced clinical psychology in Exeter and Portsmouth, faces one misdemeanor charge of prostitution and one charge for allegedly possessing marijuana. Police said they had been investigating Marino's apartment since October 2011 after a local cab driver tipped them off to suspected illegal activity happening in the apartment.
Police arrested Parent Aug. 2 on one count of prostitution in connection with that case. Police said Marino allowed his apartment to be used for prostitution “in return for consideration.”
Parent pleaded innocent Thursday morning in 9th Circuit Court, Manchester District Division, to two charges of prostitution and one of contempt of court. Bail was set at $5,000 cash/surety, and trial was set for Nov. 29.
What's next: Parent's trial is set for is Nov. 29 in 9th Circuit Court, Manchester District Division.
