Melody Pines camp selected by readers
MANCHESTER — Melody Pines Day Camp has been selected by the readers of Parenting New Hampshire as a “Family Favorite” award recipient for Favorite Day Camp.
The Family Favorite awards are a new award program that recognizes family friendly businesses, services and places in over 60 categories, as chosen in a poll of the readers of the magazine. The results of the reader’s poll will appear in the October 2012 issue.
Drink sales benefit Nashua Soup Kitchen
NASHUA — The Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter will get a financial boost for its numerous housing and personal well-being programs thanks to a fundraiser sponsored by Cumberland Farms.
For the next three weeks, Cumberland Farms is donating 20 cents from every Chill Zone beverage, iced tea and coffee (iced or hot) purchased at its newly remodeled store at 308 Daniel Webster Highway in Nashua. Proceeds will benefit the soup kitchen’s food pantry, emergency shelter, and advocacy efforts. Cumberland Farms aims to raise at least $1,000.
Bob’s Furniture accepting arts grants
MANCHESTER, Conn. — Bob’s Discount Furniture, through its Bob’s Outreach program, announced it will award $45,000 in cultural grants to deserving schools across the Northeast and mid-Atlantic states through its seventh annual Celebrate the Arts contest. The contest is designed to support and maintain dance, music and the arts in schools. Bob’s Outreach is accepting contest entries from Aug. 13 through Sept. 10, and will select nine schools to win $5,000 grants to support cultural arts programs during the 2012-13 school year.
Sal's Pizza offers shot at winning $22,000
BOSTON — Sal’s Pizza is celebrating 22 years in business by launching a contest that offers customers a chance to win $22,000. The contest is tied to the New England Patriots’ season and involves predicting the final score of the game each week. Each week, contestants can visit www.sals-pizza.com/tailgate and enter their score prediction for that week’s game. One grand prize finalist will be randomly selected and will win a $100 gift card for Sal’s Pizza. If the score predicted by the finalist matches the final score of the game, they win the $22,000 prize

MANCHESTER— FairPoint Communications has expanded broadband service to approximately 1,345 homes and businesses throughout Campton, Deerfield, Epsom, Fitzwilliam, Gilford, Hancock, Littleton, Lyman, Plymouth, Pittsfield, and Rumney. The expansion is part of FairPoint’s plan to increase broadband access to 95 percent of its service areas in New Hampshire. Irwin Automotive Group donates $50K to Laconia High School
LACONIA — The Irwin Automotive Group is contributing $50,000 to the Laconia School District’s campaign to construct a state-of-the-art athletic facility at Laconia High School. The gift secures the naming rights to the planned athletic facility’s press box.
