Fisher Cats lose lead, game to New Britain
The Rock Cats managed just two hits off Fisher Cats starter Fernando Hernandez before erupting for six hits and four runs in the sixth. Reliever Matt Daly came on to pitch the seventh, and New Britain welcomed him into the game with four more hits and three runs to put the hosts on top 7-2 and virtually cement the game';s outcome.
New Hampshire led 2-0 after four innings.
New Britain';s Aaron Hicks led the Rock Cats sixth inning hit barrage with a leadoff triple to right field. Chris Herman, Oswaldo Arcia and Chris Colabello whacked consecutive singles and the game was quickly tied, 2-2.
Deibinson Romero and Nathan Hanson followed with base knocks for a 4-2 New Britain lead.
Hicks powered his second triple of the game in the seventh, and subsequent hits by Chris Herrmann and Romero as well as a double by Josmil Pinto plated three more Rock Cats runs. Daly walked one and threw a wild pitch during the burst.
Sam Dyson finished up on the Fisher Cats hill and did not allow a hit or a run.
New Hamphire scored the game';s first run in the third on a sacrifice fly by Jake Marisnick. Koby Clemens led off the inning with a double and advanced to third on Joel Galarraga';s single. He crossed on Marisnick';s fly.
Mark Sobolewski hit a solo home run in the fourth.
New Hampshire scored its final run of the game in the ninth on a Ryan Goins double and a Brian Van Kirk infield out. Sobolewski, John Tolisano and Gabe Jacobo also collected base hits in the abreviated rally.
New Britain starter Luke French was credited with the win and improved to 4-1. Hernandez saw his record fall to 5-8.
Herrmann led the slugging New Britain offense, which collected a dozen hits, with three.
The teams return to the diamond this afternoon at 1:35 p.m. before closing out the season Monday, also at 1:35 p.m.
