Croydon teen thrown, pinned by truck
CROYDON — Police are citing alcohol as a contributing factor in a one-car accident that left a teenage driver injured on Route 10 early Monday morning.
Brayden McKinney, 17, of Croydon, was driving a 1986 Chevrolet S-10 pickup when it left the eastern edge of the roadway and collided with a stone wall, according to police, who reported that McKinney was ejected from the vehicle and became trapped under it.
New Hampshire State Police and the Croydon Police Department responded to the scene at about 7:50 a.m. Police said McKinney was removed from under the truck by the Newport Fire Department and taken to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. A hospital spokesperson said she could not provide any information on McKinney's condition as of Monday evening.
According to a press release from State Police Troop C, “Evidence obtained during the initial investigation indicates that alcohol was a contributing factor in this crash.” Police also report that McKinney was not wearing a seatbelt at the time.
The accident is still under investigation by state police; anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Kelly Wardner at 223-8494.
