H.S. Sports Roundup: Lebanon boys stay undefeated; Berlin wins
Jeff Purdy netted the game-winner at 87:58 to put the game’s only goal on the board and help Lebanon remain undefeated with a 1-0 overtime victory over John Stark in Weare on Tuesday.
Will Sanborn made three saves for Lebanon (3-0), while Mike Prindiville had 10 stops for the Generals (1-3).
Berlin 2, Kennett 0: At Berlin, Dimitri Giannos scored a pair of unassisted goals to lead the Mounties to their first win in three games. Nick Fodor earned the shutout in net with 14 saves, while Cam Clark had 18 for Kennett (0-3).
Pembroke 5, Merrimack Valley 1: At Pembroke, Shane St. Onge booted home a trio of goals to power the Spartans. Kyle Haas and Aaron Locke also tallied goals as Pembroke improved to 2-1. Scott Schofield scored for Merrimack Valley of Penacook (1-2).
Souhegan 3, Trinity 1: At Manchester, Mike Hayden, Jake Lawrence, and Devan Casey all scored and Kade Colen notched two assists for the Sabers (2-2). Brendan Dix made nine saves. Trinity fell to 1-2.
Girls' soccer
Souhegan 6, Alvirne 0: At Amherst, Peyton Kent and Hannah Chick each scored twice, while Meghan Camello and Hailey Johnson added solo tallies. Mikaela Sullivan earned her third shutout with five stops for Souhegan (3-0), while Sammi Giannelli and Tori Laroche combined for 12 saves for Alvirne of Hudson (1-2).
Field hockey
Hollis/Brookline 2, Goffstown 1: At Goffstown, Lydia Brown scored at 49:36 to snap a tie and give the Cavaliers their second win of the season in three games. Goffstown’s Anne Steckowych opened the scoring with an assist from Hannah Gifford before Gigi Eliopoolos tied the contest at 1-1, 30 seconds later. Bry Fournier made eight saves for the 1-2 Grizzlies.
Merrimack 2, Timberlane 2 (OT): At Merrimack, the Tomahawks and Owls traded goals over the first two period before drawing a stalemate in the overtime period. Ashley Grasini and Sami Smith scored for Merrimack (1-0-1) with Callie Dwyer assisting on both goals, while Courtney Sickel and Masha Lange scored on unassisted tallies. Molly Dufresne only had to make four saves for Timberlane of Plaistow (2-0-1), while Amanda Dionne stopped 25 for the Tomahawks.
Derryfield 2, Stevens 0: At Manchester, Katherine Schwope is off to an impressive start with five goals in three games as she scored the eventual game-winning in the 25th minute.
Atlee Coler had the assist in a rematch of last year’s title game won by Derryfield. Zoe PiSierra, on an assist from Colbi Vaillancourt, scored the insurance goal in the 35th minute. Lulu Carter was the winning goalie as her defense did not allow a shot on net. Cassandra Cutts had nine saves for 2-1 Stevens while the Cougars improved to 3-0.
