H.S. Sports Roundup: Memorial boys tip Salem

Manchester Memorial sophomore Julio Diaz headed home a short corner kick from Jonathan Demers 10 minutes into the game and Memorial goalie Gary Archambault made it stand with seven saves to give the Crusaders a 1-0 win over visiting Salem Wednesday in boys’ soccer action. Both teams are now 1-3.

Central 3, Concord 1: Sam Binogono scored a goal and added an assist to lead visiting Manchester Central (2-1-1) on Wednesday. Keegan LaBerge and Alex Carignan also scored for Central. Concord (1-2) got its tally from Matthew Cartier.

Derryfield 7, Portsmouth Christian 2: In Manchester, Griffin Phaneuf tallied two goals and one assist to lead 3-0 Derryfield past 0-3 Portsmouth Christian. Austin Hammer added one goal and two assists while Everett Simon had one goal and one assist.

Hopkinton 6, Campbell 1: In Litchfield, Liam McNicholas tallied twice and Steve Auger added two assists for the 3-0 Hawks. Doug Fleury also had two assists and Zach Rouleau contributed two goals to the winning cause. For 1-2 Campbell, Jon Donaghey scored on a penalty kick in the 57th minute.

Pinkerton 3, Alvirne 0: In Derry, goals from Tim Wood and Cameron Burke in the first half were too much to overcome for 0-1-2 Alvirne. Pinkerton (3-1-0) added an insurance goal in the second half from Owen Murray. Alex Horan gained the shutout in nets.

InterLakes 3, Winnisquam 0: In Meredith, second half goals from Travis Manville and Chris Yopp paved the way for the 2-2 Lakers. Manville had two goals and Sean Mussen had one assist. Trevor Colby also assisted on a goal.

Exeter 5, Nashua South 0: Matt Voasich scored two goals and added an assist to lead Exeter (3-1).

Girls’ soccer

Newport 2, Sunapee 0: Taylor Usko scored twice in the final six minutes to lead Newport. Rose Webb and Bridget Sherwin picked up the assists.

Derryfield 6, Portsmouth Christian 1: Chloe Warner scored three goals and Heather Menakaya added two assists to lead Derryfield (2-0) at home in Manchester Wednesday. Kim Jendron scored for PCA.

Exeter 5, Nashua South 1: Casey Etsy scored twice and Maggie Covett, Katie Day and Casey Scott added single tallies for Exeter. Sena Oran scored for South.

Timberlane 4, Merrimack 0: Emily Jackson And Alicia ROss each scored two goals to lead host Timberlane of Plaistow (2-1). Emily Barrett made 8 saves for the shutout.

Londonderry 5, Winnacunnet 0: In Hampton, Lydia Simmons scored two goals, but earlier scores from Kayleen Walberg, Jackie Geisler and Emily Crocetti sealed the deal for the 4-1 Lancers. Aliza Simpson had two assists.

Central 1, Concord 1 (OT): Eliza Bunnell scored for Concord (1-1-1) and Colbie Cookson tied the game for Central (2-0-1) but neither team could gain the advantage through overtime.

Field hockey

Central 1, Concord 0: In Concord, Carolyn Larkins converted a penalty corner try for the only goal just 10 minutes into the game. Abby Jackson earned the assist and goalie Abby Desharnais turned back six shots for the shutout.

Memorial 3, Pinkerton 0: In Manchester, goals from Brianna Soares, Kendra Rollins and Christy Sasso led Memorial to its first win in three outings. Memorial peppered Pinkerton goalie Jordan Dudley with 20 shots as she made 17 stops. Pinkerton is now 2-1.
