H.S. Sports Roundup: Pinkerton, Bedford girls prevail
Rebecca McGrath scored twice in the first half for Pinkerton Academy of Derry, and the host Astros stayed undefeated with a 6-0 soccer victory against Spaulding of Rochester on Thursday.
Pinkerton got goals from Maura Kane, Maggie Cohoon, Haley Hicks and Andrea Galvin while improving to 4-0 in Division I. Spaulding goalie Sarah Tremblay made 11 saves, while Pinkerton's Emily Harris did not face an official shot.
Bedford 1, Merrimack 0: Sami Philip scored in the 39th minute to lift Bedford (2-0-1) to a win against visiting Merrimack (1-4) in a Division I game on Thursday. Brooke Barrett saved two to record the shutout.
Field hockey
Bow 2, Goffstown 0: Lindsey Nerbonne had a pair of goals for the defending champs, and Bow goalie Amy Zahensky was perfect on all six shots as the Falcons improved to 2-1 in Division II. The game was scoreless until Nerbonne's goal four minutes into the second half. Bry Fournier made eights saves for Goffstown (1-3).
