ROCHESTER — For the second day in a row, a teenager was injured in a three-vehicle accident Friday, which prompted police to remind area residents to buckle up.

Police, firefighters and emergency personnel responded to 773 Salmon Falls Road around 12:38 p.m. after a northbound 1996 Ford Ranger, driven by Jayde Hassen, 19, of Rochester, struck a southbound 2002 Jeep Liberty, driven by Robert Joy, 47, of New Durham.

Hassen was attempting to make a left turn when the accident occurred. As a result of the collision, the Ranger was pushed backwards into a northbound 2010 Subaru Impreza, driven by Lisa Ansell, 33, of Rochester, according to police.

Officers, who were already at the home for another issue, were able to assist drivers and occupants instantly. Airbags deployed in the Ranger and the Liberty, according to police.

Paramedics transported Hassen, who was not wearing her seatbelt, to Frisbie Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Meanwhile, a 16-year-old passenger sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of a three-vehicle accident at the four corners intersection along Route 202A Thursday night.

Both accidents are under investigation.
