High School Roundup: Pinkerton boys’ soccer holds off hard-charging Keene
Pinkerton of Derry (4-1) handed host Keene (4-1) its first loss of the season, 6-4, in boys’ soccer action Friday, but it wasn’t easy.
“We were in total control, up by four goals with 30 minutes to play and the wheels fell off our wagon,” said Pinkerton coach Kerry Boles.
Keene netted four goals in an 18-minute stretch. Goals by Phil Lerner and Owen Murray got the Astros rolling again. Murray and Devin Moore scored two times for the Astros while Phil Goulet scored twice and Jay Weidenheimer had three assists for Keene.
Man. Central 2, Dover 0: Justin Reno and Austin Camberis scored goals to lead the way for host Manchester Central (3-1-1) Friday. Semir Sandzic and Roda Humad assisted on the goals and Noah Edmonds made three saves for the shutout.
White Mountains 2, Inter-Lakes 1: In Whitefield, Ethan Call scored the game-winner in the 75th minute to lead the home team to victory on Friday. Jonah Steiss made 10 saves for the Lakers.
Londonderry 10, Spaulding 0: Rob Hart scored the first three goals of the game and the Lancers (4-0) were on their way. Nate Gaw added two goals and an assist.
Campbell 5, Conant 0: At Peterborough, the Cougars (2-2) erupted for four goals in the second half to pull away from the Orioles (0-3). Ian Hutchinson paced Campbell with two goals and an assist, while Jon Donaghey and Matt Latsha added one goal and one assist apiece.
Concord 2, Nashua South 0: Mathew Chartier scored a goal and assisted on another to lead the Crimson Tide (2-2) to a win over the Panthers (0-5). Alex Lowe made 10 saves in net for South.
Souhegan 2, Milford 1: In Milford, Mike Hayden scored both of his team’s goals to lead the Sabers (3-2) to a win over the Spartans (1-2-1).
Lebanon 2, Goffstown 0: Evan O’Reilly scored one goal and assisted on the other to pace host Lebanon (4-0) past Goffstown (2-2) Friday. Will Sanborn made eight saves for the shutout while Henry Seidel stopped eight for Goffstown.
Girls’ soccer
Timberlane 5, Memorial 2: At Manchester, Rachel Morrier netted a hat trick while helping the Owls improve to 3-1. Teammate Nicole Bruen added a goal and an assist and Alicia Ross added a second-half score. The Crusaders dropped to 0-5 with Race Thibeult making 13 saves.
Derryfield 6, Farmington 0: In Farmington, Chloe Warner netted a hat trick as the Cougars (3-0) upended the Tigers (1-3). Warner scored two goals in the first half and one in the second half. The Derryfield defense did not allow Farmington a shot on goal.
Manchester Central 1, Dover 1 (OT): At Dover, Central’s Colbie Cookson erased a one-goal deficit when she scored an unassisted goal late in the first half as the Little Green moved to 2-0-2 in Division I. Colleen Driscoll scored for Dover, which is 0-2-2.
Goffstown 7, Lebanon 0: At Goffstown, Michele Tremblay scored three goals and Lexi Foster collected two to help the Grizzlies raise their Division II record to 4-0. Bri Turcotte had four assists.
Field hockey
Pinkerton 7, Keene 1: The Astros (3-1) got a hat trick from Nicole Yannalso and single goals from Brooke Dorval, Kaylie DeCosmo, Sam Day and Jessica Cote. Keene’s tally came from Nicole Haley.
Derryfield 7, Pembroke 0: Twins Colbi and Berklee Vaillancourt each scored two goals and Sarah Porat added two more the lead the way offensively for undefeated Derryfield of Manchester (4-0) at Pembroke Friday. Lulu Carter made two saves for the shuout.
Conant 5, John Stark 2: In Weare, Conant of Jaffrey picked up its first win with goals from Jessica Sorbey (two, assist) and Tatayana Jacquin (two goals). Stark (0-4) got goals from Sam Kazakis and Carly Cook.
