Nashua North made three third quarter touchdowns stand up against a furious fourth quarter comeback bid by visiting Manchester Memorial in a 22-17 Titans Division I victory at Stellos Stadium Saturday afternoon.
In a battle of first half field position, the only scoring came when Crusader Jared Ombati booted a 25 yard field goal midway through the second quarter.
The scoring picked up immediately after the break. North's Dimitri Jackson had touchdown runs of two and 54 yards in the third quarter while quarterback Colby Gunter found receiver Gus Barroso for a 39 yard touchdown hookup. After 36 minutes of play, North (2-0) led 22-3.
Memorial quarterback Stephen Deane connected with Deion Ball early in the fourth quarter to get the Crusaders (1-1) back in the contest.
With two minutes remaining in the game, Deane punched the ball in from one yard out on a quarterback keeper and Memorial trailed by just five.
Division II
Bishop Guertin 27, Manchester West 0: Bishop Guertin of Nashua led 27-0 at the half Saturday night at Stellos Stadium before the skies opened up and downpours and frequent lightning caused the suspension of the remainder of the game.
After a discussion between BG head coach Travis Cote, West head coach Jim Lauzon, athletic directors from both schools and the lead referee, the decision was made to call it a complete game due to scheduling conflicts.
Nick Marino rumbled 62 yards for the Cardinals' first quarter score. Quarterback Tom Hurley kept the ball and found the endzone from 14 yards out to make it 14-0 with three minutes to play in the half.
West fumbled its next possession and Hurley fired a strike to Kevin Kiczuk for a 19 yard touchdown and a 20-0 advantage. Kiczuk finished the scoring with a touchdown run from nine yards out just before time expired.
Division VI
Campbell 21, Farmington-Nute 6: Jesiah Wade carried the ball 18 times for 241 yards and three touchdowns in Campbell of Litchfield's road win at Farmington-Nute. Wade also ran in a two-point conversion for the Cougars.
Trevor Duquette anchored the Campbell defensive side with seven tackles. Campbell is 2-0. Running back Jamen Gunnison had the touchdown for Farmington-Nute (1-1).
