FPU students help injured hiker off Mount Monadnock
JAFFREY - A Lowell woman injured while hiking Mount Monadnock got a little help form about 40 Franklin Pierce University students Saturday afternoon.
Mia Parviainan, 27, of Lowell, Mass., suffered a severe lower leg injury coming down the White Arrow trail at the summit of the mountain, according to New Hampshire Conservation Officer Jonathan DeLisle.
“It is very rewarding to have such great volunteers assist N.H. Fish and Game Conservation Officers with these mountain rescues,” DeLisle said.
N.H. Fish and Game conservation officers were notified and responded to the trailhead along with members of the Upper Valley Wilderness Response Search and Rescue Team, N.H. Fish and Game department employees, volunteers, and the more than forty students and staff from Franklin Pierce University.
All of the responders helped carry Parviainan on a litter approximately one mile from the summit of Mt. Monadnock down to the Old Toll Road. Parviainan was then transported by vehicle to the trailhead.
