Parish Nurse Center for Wellness offers 'Senior Discussions'

NASHUA — The Parish Nurse Center for Wellness at Milette Manor, 72 Vine St., offers free “Senior Discussions” from 10 a.m. to noon the third Thursday of each month.

Sept. 20: “Protect Yourself and Family from Frauds and Scams,” led by Jane Constant, senior relations officer with the Nashua Police Department.

Oct. 18: “When Driving Becomes a Concern, Where Do You Turn?” led by Officer Constant.

Nov. 15: “Fall Prevention: Risk Assessment and Resources,” led by Frank Belsky of Living at Home Senior Care.

Retired educators begin new year with luncheon

KEENE — Cheshire County Retired Educators Association members will meet for their first luncheon of the 2012-13 school year Tuesday at Stonewall Farm, Chesterfield Road.

Hosts Ann Ayotte and Bob Lammela will welcome members to the event, which will feature social time from noon to 12:30 p.m., followed by a luncheon buffet.

Organizers say the afternoon's program is intended to amaze and mystify, with Keene High School alumnus Jason Purdy, an illusionist and magician, providing entertainment for an audience that will include many of his former teachers.

The association comprises retired teachers, administrators and educational support personnel who live or formerly taught in Cheshire County.

Those interested in attending the luncheon or joining the association — and especially new retirees — should contact Kenneth Whitaker, membership chairman, at 827-3702.

Littleton women to serve as 'Senior Buddies'

LITTLETON — The Women's Support Group at Littleton Area Senior Center, 77 Riverglen Lane, is again teaming up with a second-grade class at the Lafayette School in Franconia for a “Senior Buddies” program.

The seniors and schoolchildren will have monthly visits to work on a combined project. The first visit will involve planting bulbs Friday, Sept. 28.

The support group will meet this month on Fridays, Sept. 14 and 28, after lunch. New members are welcome.

In keeping with a new tradition at the center of a monthly “International Day,” seniors this month will celebrate China Day on Friday. Activities will include a Chinese meal and short presentation, followed by a Wii game of pingpong. To participate, sign up at the front desk. Players and spectators are welcome.

The Book Worms group will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, to discuss “Two Coots in a Canoe” by David Morine. New members are welcome. Book lists for the year are available at the center.

'Rehab Reunion' planned at Warde Health Center

WINDHAM — Warde Health Center plans its annual “Rehab Reunion” and cookout on Tuesday.

Patients who completed their rehabilitation at Warde are invited back to visit and reconnect with their former “classmates.”

The health center, which provides short-term rehabilitation, as well as assisted living, is located at 21 Searles Road.
