No. 24 UNH women hammer Holy Cross in field hockey
Meg Flatley and Kellie Joyce each scored two goals to lead the 24th-ranked University of New Hampshire field hockey team to an 8-3 non-conference victory Sunday against Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass.
UNH is 2-3 overall as Flatley extended her goal-scoring streak to three games. Hannah Richard of Hopkinton added one goal and one assist while Emma Erler of New Hampton finished with an assist.
The Wildcats recorded sizable advantages in both shots (30-7) and penalty corners (12-0).
Joyce also recorded her first career multiple-goal game and career-high four points to extend her point-scoring streak to three games.
Meg Carroll tallied a goal and an assist. Claire Grogan and Mackenzie Joyce scored UNH’s other goals.
UNH goalkeeper Carlie Tarbell was credited with three saves.
Amherst 3, Keene State 1: In Keene, Melissa Habelow scored off a corner opportunity for her first career at the 19:02 mark of the first half.
Maryland 6, Dartmouth 0: In College Park, Md., the Big Green fell to 1-3 after allowing five first-half goals.
Mercy, N.Y. 1, St. Anselm 0: In Manchester, Eric Moriarty of Center Harbor made two saves in goal for the 0-3 Hawks.
Univ. N.E. 1, NEC 0 (2ot): In Biddeford, Maine., Anthony Frangione of Barnstead scored his first goal of his career with 3:44 left in double overtime.
Dartmouth 1, Colgate 0: In Hanover, Alex Adelabu added his second goal in as many days, connecting with a pass out of the midfield from senior co-captain Kevin Dzierzawski. Dartmouth is 2-2.
Franklin Pierce 3, Assumption 1: In Rindge, Talita Pereira scored twice for the 3-0 Ravens. Pereira ran her goal total to three on the season.
Albertus Magnus 1, New England College 0: In New Haven, Conn., Amanda Roke scored the game-winning goal in the 36th minute.
Rutgers 2, Dartmouth 1: In Hanover, Jonelle Filigno scored in the 89th minute for the No. 21 ranked Scarlet Knights.
Big Green senior tri-captain Emma Brush put Dartmouth (2-2-0) ahead in the 58th minute.
The goal was Brush’s third in the past two games.
