WOODSTOCK - Three area residents are hospitalized, two with serious injuries, after their Ford Taurus veered off Interstate 93 late Wednesday afternoon, hit an embankment, went airborne for about 80 feet and then landed on its roof in a large gully.

According to a state police press release, driver Anthony Ford, 19, of Lincoln, was taken by Dartmouth-Hitchcock helicopter from the scene to the Lebanon hospital for treatment of serious injuries including broken bones and a collapsed lung.

His passengers, Batu Nasoz, 18, and Paulicia Baker, also of Woodstock, were taken to Speare Memorial Hospital. Nasoz was then taken by DHART helicopter to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center for further treatment of serious injuries.

Police said the crash happened just after 5 p.m. Ford and his passengers were all trapped in the 1998 Ford Taurus when emergency workers arrived and freed them. The car went off the road between two guardrails, then hit an embankment, sending it airborne for about 80 feet before landing on its roof.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were Woodstock police, the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, Lincoln and Woodstock firefighters and the Linwood Ambulance.
