H.S. Sports Roundup: Hanover boys topple Alvirne
Rocco Linehan’s diving header beat Alvirne goalie Liam Regan with 23 seconds left to lift visiting Hanover to a 2-1 win in boys’ soccer in Hudson on Thursday.
Daniel Hazlett’s cross from deep on the left side set up Linehan’s game-winner. Hazlett tied the game in the 65th minute with his team-leading fourth goal off an assist from Brendan Barth.
Brett Richardson gave the Broncos (1-3-1) a 1-0 lead in the 45th minute. Alex Bynum made one save to record the win for Hanover (5-1).
Timberlane 2, Nashua South 0: Gunnar Ericsson had a goal and an assist and Matthew Plante added a goal for Timberlane (3-0-2) in Plaistow on Thursday. Tom Sullivan saved five for the shutout against winless Nashua South (0-7).
Girls’ soccer
Campbell 3, Hopkinton 2: Sydney Crema scored twice to lift Campbell of Litchfield (3-2) past host Hopkinton in Contoocook (3-2) on Thursday. Casey Mellen scored the eventual game-winner during the 60th minute and Heather Baron had six saves in the win.
Field hockey
Merrimack Valley 5, Goffstown 1: Kerry Sedion made six saves as Merrimack Valley of Penacook (3-2-1) upended host Goffstown (2-4) on Thursday.
Bishop Guertin 3, Manchester Memorial 2: Brooke Pearson’s goal midway through the second half proved the game-winner for host Bishop Guertin of Nashua on Thursday. Mia Vecchione and Caley Prunier also scored for the Cardinals (4-2). Brianna Soares had both goals for the Crusaders (2-4).
