State trooper injured in Swanzey crash
SWANZEY – A state trooper riding a motorcycle suffered minor injuries in a crash on Route 12 Saturday morning.
State police responded to the crash around 11:23 a.m. when Trooper John LaPointe riding a N.H. State Police 2007 Harley Davidson Motorcycle rear-ended a 2004 Mazda, driven by Justin Schibanoff of Hudson.
Both vehicles were traveling south on Route 12 at the time. The collision occurred when Schibanoff stopped to make a left hand turn.
LaPointe attempted to avoid colliding with the Mazda, but ended up striking the rear bumper, state police said in a press release.
Schibanoff was not injured.
The case is still under investigation, but so far speed has been ruled out as a factor, state police said.
The accident took place in front of Papagallo's Restaurant. An employee said Saturday no employees witnessed the crash.
