UNH Wildcat gridders 18th, 19th in polls
The University of New Hampshire football team remained 18th in The Sports Network FCS Top 25 College Football Poll following Saturday’s 43-10 triumph over Central Connecticut State.
UNH, which is 2-1 overall, is ranked 19th in the FCS Coaches’ Poll. North Dakota State is the top team in each poll.
Dartmouth junior Dominick Pierre and senior Miles Gay have been selected as the Ivy League’s co-Offensive Player of the Week and Special Teams Player of the Week, respectively. Pierre ran for 170 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries in Dartmouth’s 35-7 victory over Butler on Saturday. Gay returned the opening kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown.
Plymouth State defensive back Ray Boulay of Keene was selected to the New England Football Conference’s weekly honor roll after making a a team-high 11 tackles during Plymouth State’s 13-7 victory over Maine Maritime on Saturday. Boulay, a senior, also made his first interception of the season.
Dartmouth sophomore Alex Adelabu was named the Ivy League men’s soccer Player of the Week for scoring three goals at the Lobo Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. Adelabu scored two goals against seventh-ranked New Mexico, and collected the game-winning goal in a double-overtime victory against Missouri State.
Three Keene State athletes were honored by the Little East Conference on Monday. Freshman Haley Willumsen was named the women’s volleyball rookie of the week; senior Thomas Paquette was named the men’s cross country runner of the week; and freshman Ryan Brady of Durham was selected as the men’s cross country rookie of the week.
Two UNH field hockey players, junior forward Hannah Richard of Hopkinton and junior back Megan Bozek, have been named the America East Player of the Week and the America East Defensive Player of the Week, respectively. UNH went 2-0 last week with victories over Pacific (7-1) and Northeastern (3-2).
Colby-Sawyer junior Courtney O’Hara has been named the North Atlantic Conference’s Player of the Week after she led the Chargers with 37 kills and 28 digs in matches against Emmanuel and Brandeis last week, The NAC also selected Colby-Sawyer’s Laura Smolinski as the league’s Rookie of the Week after she collected 108 assists in three matches.
The North Eastern Athletic Conference selected Colby-Sawyer freshman Ashlyn Ramsay as the East Division Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Week. Ramsay posted a 6-1, 6-3 victory against Johnson at No. 2 singles, and was part of Colby-Sawyer’s No. 1 doubles team that prevailed 8-3.
Franklin Pierce freshman Colton Ham of Webster was named the Northeast-10 Conference’s men’s cross country Rookie of the Week for his performance in Saturday’s UMass-Dartmouth Invitational. Ham completed the 8K race in 25 minutes, 35.55 seconds, to finish 18th in a field of 293.
The New Hampshire Technical Institute co-ed golf team posted two victories last weekend.
NHTI posted a team score of 319 to beat Eastern Maine Community College (355), and Northern Maine Community College (359) on Saturday, NHTI shot a 317 to beat Southern Maine Community College (338) and Eastern Maine Community College (349) Sunday.
