DeBlois calls off vote recount
CONCORD — Executive Council Republican primary candidate Sen. Tom DeBlois of Manchester called off his recount request after about 75 percent of the ballots had been counted and little changed in the totals.
Stopping the recount makes Hillsborough County treasurer Robert Burns of Bedford the official primary victor by a 98-vote margin in the Republican contest for the District 4 council seat.
In the official tally, Burns had 7,140 votes to DeBlois’s 7,042, and Chuck Rolecek of Bedford had 6,534.
DeBlois said he called off the recount after an inspection of results from Ward 4 in Manchester showed a double counting of write-in votes but no significant change in the results.
Burns faces Manchester businessman Chris Pappas in the general election Nov. 6.
Pappas, a former city Democratic chair and Hillsborough County treasurer, did not face a primary challenger.
Libertarian Ken Blevens of Bow is also seeking the seat.
District 4 Councilor Raymond Wieczorek, R-Manchester, did not seek reelection.
