The University of New Hampshire men’s soccer team hit rock bottom Tuesday, losing a 4-3 non-conference match in overtime to previously winless University of Rhode Island in South Kingstown, R.I.

The loss dropped UNH to 3-3-2 while Rhode Island gained its first win in seven outings. Matt Ribbens got the game-winner at the 103:17 mark.

The Rams started fast, getting unassisted goals from Brett Uttley and Mike Casey 16 minutes into the contest.

UNH made a comeback in the second half, as Charlie Roche (54:28), Angel Maldonado (74:27) and David Schlatter (83:35) erased the deficit. But the Rams rallied in the final minute of regulation, getting the equalizer with six seconds left from Casey.

Daniel Webster 3, Rivier 1: In Nashua, Elliot Kilgore of Milford and Joey Morgan of Windham notched first half scores for the 1-4-2 Eagles. Danny Connelly of Bedford broke the shutout bid, converting a penalty kick with 4:34 remaining.

Women’s soccer

UMass-Lowell 1, St. Anselm 0: In Manchester, Gabriella Primera made five saves in net for the Hawks, but Keanna Santos’ goal in the 32nd minute proved to be the difference. The Hawks dropped to 1-4-1 on the season.

Merrimack College 1, SNHU 0 (OT): In Manchester, Danielle Dion scored her eighth goal of the season 4:58 into overtime. The Penmen are 4-2-1 as keeper Maggie Weldon of Manchester turned aside four shots.

Field hockey

St. Anselm 2, St. Michael’s College 1: In Manchester, Elizabeth Sears scored with 3:30 left in regulation and again just 2:09 into the extra session for the 3-5 Hawks.

Women’s hockey

Dartmouth College: The 2012-13 ECAC Hockey preseason coaches’ women’s ice hockey poll has Dartmouth selected to finish fifth in the league.

Volleyball

SNHU 3, Merrimack College 1: In Manchester, the Penmen won six straight to improve to 7-4. Erica Solomon erupted for a team-high 17 kills and 15 digs. Emma Houlihan added 10 kills in the win.
