McQuarrie boys lead Generals to victories
Drew McQuarrie threw for two touchdowns to lead the John Stark Generals varsity squad to a 16-0 win over the Concord Capitals last week.
The Generals scored all 16 of their points in the second half. One was a 27-yard pass from McQuarrie to Kyle Booker, and then McQuarrie hooked up with Cooper Gorski for the second score. Booker and Gavin MacIver also combined for a safety.
Midgets
John Stark 30, Windsor, Vt. 20: Parker McQuarrie was 3-for-5 through the air, rushed for two touchdowns and had five tackles on defense as the Generals rolled to victory.
Jake Cole led the ground attack with 12 carries for 125 yards and a touchdown, while Bo Lyons also scored a touchdown.
Junior midgets
John Stark 24, Windsor, Vt. 14: Josh Booker had a touchdown run of more than 50 yards and caught another score as the Generals picked up the win.
Chris Metcalf threw the touchdown pass for the Generals and Tommy Quinn rumbled in from 2 yards out for another score, which was set up by a 40-yard run by Brandon DeStefano.
Nate Tower had an interception on the defensive side.
Junior varsity
Hartford, Vt. 41, John Stark 0: Troy Gamache had two completions for 48 yards in the season opener for the Generals. He also rushed for 33 yards and made three tackles on defense.
Jack Baumann had 47 yards rushing, caught a 25-yard pass and made five tackles.
Nick Wheeler made four tackles on defense.
Bedford Jaguars
Varsity
Bedford 52, Derry 0: The Jaguars opened the season in dominant fashion recently.
Sean Tierney, Shahrukh Hussain, Nick Leahy and Austin D'Anjou all had touchdowns for Bedford, which led 38-0 at halftime.
Junior varsity
Windham 44, Bedford 14: Justin Wiggin and Donovan Phommaphat each scored a touchdown in the loss.
Wiggin took the kickoff to open the second half 67 yards for one score, and Phommaphat scored on a 47-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Other standouts in the backfield for the Jaguars were Demetri Anagnost, Thomas Norfleet and Salvatore Malignaggi. Defensively, Norfleet and Wiggin both recovered fumbles.
6th grade
Hudson-Litchfield 21, Bedford 6: Caleb Calandra had the lone touchdown for the Jaguars in their loss.
Calandra's touchdown came on a 37-yard run. Other players who had runs of more than 10 yards were Ben Lasman, Jonathan Redman, Patrick Yudkin and Ryan Donahue, who also had an interception. Torey Helton also forced a fumble.
3rd grade

Magnus Steele had a good game defensively in the loss to the Wolverines.
