Foot chase nabs man who ran for it
MANCHESTER — A suspect who pushed a police officer away to avoid being detected with a knife was captured after a foot chase through a city neighborhood, police said.
According to police reports, Jose Cortes Benjamin Rodriguez, 19, of Hooksett was stopped in his car Thursday evening after two officers on bicycle patrol spotted an open can of beer in the driver's compartment. Officers say one officer discovered a knife in the car and ordered Rodriguez out of the car, but the suspect pushed his way past the policemen and ran. He was chased on foot in the area of Union and Laurel streets and captured after citizens helped police locate him.
