Journalism students offered all-day workshop at Loeb School

MANCHESTER — Veteran journalists and photographers will share their skills with student journalists from throughout New Hampshire at an all-day student media workshop at the Nackey S. Loeb School of Communications.

The Oct. 20 workshop is offered free of charge, thanks to a grant from AT&T.

It will include instruction from media professionals in news writing, editing, photography, multimedia presentations, layout, online reporting and the First Amendment. Student journalists will cover a newsmaker, then produce stories, online reports, photos and multimedia reports — all on deadline.

Instructors include reporter/editor Meg Heckman, formerly of the Concord Monitor; reporter Beth LaMontagne Hall, formerly of the New Hampshire Union Leader; photojournalist and multimedia producer Geoff Forester; blogger and columnist Stacy Milbouer of The Telegraph; Layout and Design Editor Tom Lynch of the Union Leader; and Attorney Gregory Sullivan of Malloy & Sullivan will cover the First Amendment.

All student journalists and media advisers are welcome to attend the session, which runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Directions and registration information are available at www.loebschool.org, or 627-0005.
