The Franklin Pierce University golf team leads after the first round of the two-day SNHU Penmen Invitational at the Canterbury Woods Country Club.

The Ravens had all five players turn in rounds in the 70s en route to a 309 score.

SNHU is six shots behind Franklin Pierce. St. Anselm College (321), St. Michael’s College (332) and The College of Saint Rose (332) round out the field.

Brad Auclair of Franklin Pierce is the first- round leader with a three-over 75.

SNHU junior Vince Kimball of Lebanon is currently in a three-way tie for second place after firing a 76, tying him with Jason Lussier of St. Anselm and Stew Wise of Franklin Pierce.

The Penmen have two other players currently in the top 10, as Nick Burke sits in fifth after a round of 78, while one stroke back is Scott Underhill of Bedford. Three Ravens who also carded a 79 are Ian Landry of Loudon, Ricky Gray of Jaffrey and Sean Shepard.

Honors

UNH: Freshman Kirstyn Corder scored two goals to earn America East women’s soccer weekly honors. In volleyball, Morgan Thatcher is named America East player of the week and Brenna Buckwalter was tabbed the rookie of the week.

Wheaton College: In women’s soccer, Jordan Muse of Candia is recognized by the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference as its top defensive player. She helped lead the Lyons to a pair of shutouts against Tufts University (0-0) and Wellesley College (3-0).

Dartmouth College: In football, Michael Runger was selected as the Ivy League’s defensive player of the week and Riley Lyons was picked as the special teams player of the week.

In women’s soccer, Corey Delaney picked up her second consecutive Ivy League rookie of the week honor.

Franklin Pierce: In men’s soccer, Nico Mueller was named the Northeast-10 Conference rookie of the week.

Plymouth State: In volleyball, Little East Conference honors were handed out to Casey Stoodley of Salem as the offensive player of the week.

Keene State: In soccer, Pat Anthony and Brittany Croteau were named Little East Conference men’s and women’s defensive players of the week.

Cross country poll

UNH: The men and women cross country teams are both ranked in the Northeast Region Poll by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The men’s squad is ranked 15th overall for the second-straight week after falling to Maine in a dual meet last Friday.

David Gervais of Nashua led the way for the Wildcats, placing fourth overall in the five-mile course in 26:06.4.

The women’s team remains in the top 15 for the fourth-straight week and holds the 14th spot after topping Maine in a dual meet on Friday. New Hampshire finished with 26 points, placing ahead of rival Maine with 31.

Junior Cayla Pellegrini of Derry paced the UNH squad with a third-place finish. She completed the five-kilometer course in 18:49.8. Pellegrini edged out McKenzie Haney of Penacook, who placed fourth in 18:50.7.
