WMUR's Eddy leaving to start communications company
MANCHESTER — WMUR-TV news anchor and reporter Tiffany Eddy will leave her job next month, ending a 14-year stint at the station in order to launch a communications company, WMUR said Wednesday.
Eddy said she will also handle communications work on a part-time basis for Granite State College.
“This decision did not come easy. I will always treasure my time at WMUR. It has been an honor to work with so many great and talented people, and an absolute privilege to serve New Hampshire viewers,” Eddy said in a statement released Wednesday.
For more than a decade, Eddy co-anchored New Hampshire Chronicle, a feature-news show that criss-crossed the state with stories about interesting people and events.
She’s been the long-time co-anchor of the station’s 11 p.m. news broadcast, and in March she took on the additional duties of co-anchoring at 10 p.m. newscast on MeTV New Hampshire.
Eddy said family obligations played a role in her decision to leave the station. She is mother to a 4-year-old and 7-year-old, and working nights kept her away from them.
“I’d go in in the afternoon and miss all the wonderful things you do as a parent with your children at night,” Eddy said.
She said her company, Focus First Communications, will offer services in video production, crisis communications, media and public relations.
“We will certainly miss having Tiffany on our team. It’s always hard to see someone go, especially after so many years of dedicated work,” said WMUR News Director Alisha McDevitt.
