MANCHESTER — Religious congregations from throughout Manchester will come together today in support of the annual Religious Response to Hunger Fall Food Drive.

At 10 a.m., all participating parish volunteers will meet in the parking lot of the Brookside Congregational Church at 2013 Elm St. to form a caravan to transport the donated groceries to New Horizons soup kitchen and food pantry at 199 Manchester St.

“I am grateful to know we can rely on the religious community to restock our shelves as we approach the holiday season,” Charlie Sherman, executive director at New Horizons for New Hampshire, stated in a release. “We typically struggle to keep food on the shelves during this time of year, so it couldn’t come at a better time for us.”

According to the release, for more than 30 years, Temple Adath Yeshurun of Manchester and others in the religious community have supported New Horizons soup kitchen and food pantry with this annual event, which is held during the Jewish High Holy Days. This year, Hannaford has partnered with the temple to provide bags for food collection.
