LANCASTER — A Gorham man who attempted the knifepoint robbery of an individual last year in that town has been sentenced to 2 to 4 years in the New Hampshire State Prison after being convicted in Coos County Superior Court.

Judge Peter H. Bornstein this month sentenced Shannon Orr, 30, of Exchange Street.

A grand jury in February indicted Orr for attempted robbery on Nov. 20 in which Orr “put Philip Green in fear of imminent use of physical force” by displaying the deadly weapon and demanding money, according to the indictment.

Bornstein gave Orr credit for 290 days pretrial confinement, and ordered that he participate in and complete any counseling, treatment and educational programs offered him by the state Department of Probation and Parole.

His conditions also include avoiding contact with the victim.

The judge dismissed a robbery charge and a charge of possession of a controlled drug.

In another Coos County Superior Court sentencing this month, a Berlin man who had been charged earlier this year with conspiracy to commit armed robbery received a suspended four-month jail sentence and two other charges against him were dropped.

Nicholas Belanger, 24, of Wight Street, who was indicted in February in connection with the December armed robbery of David Mulinski in Berlin, was convicted on a charge of hindering apprehension.

Judge Bornstein sentenced him to four months in the Coos County House of Corrections, all suspended upon Belanger’s good behavior and the condition that he comply with the terms of the sentence.

Bornstein dismissed two other charges, the conspiracy charge and armed robbery involving criminal liability for the conduct of another.

He ordered Belanger to complete any counseling, treatment and education programs the state offers him, and ordered that he have no contact with several individuals, including Mulinski.

Belanger had originally been accused of providing transportation to a store for the purchase of bullets, and transportation to the scene of the robbery.
