Clerk charged with sale to minor

EXETER — As part of a recent alcohol compliance check that targeted local businesses, a clerk at the Exeter Stop and Shop faces a misdemeanor charge after allegedly selling alcohol to a minor.

Debra A. Cochiaro, 51, of North Hampton, was charged with prohibited sales, a class B misdemeanor, following the check conducted by Exeter police on Sept. 17.

Police sent a 20-year-old buyer into several establishments as part of the operation. The minor attempted to buy alcohol at each location, but Cochiaro was the only one who allowed the sale, according to police.

The businesses that did not sell to the underage buyer were: Mobil on the Run on Portsmouth Avenue and Epping Road, X-tra Mart, Convenient Grocer, Lee Mac’s, Rite Aid, Walgreens, Deep Meadow Variety, Monster Gas, Phillips 66 and On The Vine.
